THE CURE “REFLECTIONS”added to line up for stephen PAVLOVIC’S VIVID LIVE at Sydney Opera house
Sydney Opera House today announced that the curator of Vivid LIVE, Stephen Pavlovic has secured one of the world’s most enduringly influential bandsThe Cure to perform for Vivid LIVE at Sydney Opera House. Appearing onstage with a uniquely evolving line-up of band members past and present, The Cure “Reflections” will see the band perform their first three albums live, in their entirety, in an extraordinary concert experience exclusively for Vivid LIVE on May 31 and June 1.
While punk was still reverberating through popular culture, The Cure’s unique blend of moody, atmospheric and unforgettable songs pioneered a new era in popular music and marked them forg reatness from the start. Their strong sense of theatricality and unique styling gave birth to entirely new subcultures and new generations continue to discover their signature sound and make it the soundtrack to their lives.
The Cure have toured Australia many times but have never attempted a show such as this on our shores.  Hear how they became the voice of generations with three releases that etched them into our consciousness. From the punchy, offbeat, starkly unadorned songs of Three Imaginary Boys, through the increasingly shadowy and quixotic pieces of SeventeenSeconds, to the singular melancholic grandeur of Faith, this is a rare chance to experience the origins of one of popular music’s greatest stories.
Vivid LIVE at Sydney Opera House (May 27– June 5) is a curated music festival and is part of Vivid Sydney (May 27 – June 13), the city’s annualfestival of light, music and ideas. Following on from Brian Eno (2009) and Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson(2010), Australia’s Stephen “Pav” Pavlovic of Modular has taken the reigns as curator for this unique event for 2011.
Vivid LIVE curator Stephen Pavlovic says "From my teenage years to the present day, The Cure have always been one of the most inspiring bands I have ever come across. To have the opportunity to include them in the line up is anhonour equal to curating VividLIVE"

The Cure’s Robert Smith says, “Vivid LIVE is an exceptional event, and we are very excited to be taking part. We have played a lot of memorable shows in Australia – we first performed here in 1980, and this will be our seventh trip – but it will be our first time onstage in the Sydney Opera House, and we want to do something unique to mark the occasion. Combining Cure members past and present in a live filmed interpretation of our first three albums feels to me like it should do the trick!”
The Cure join an incredible line up of local and international artists including SpiritualizedBat for Lashes, Chris Cunningham, The Avalanches, Sonny Rollins, Yo Gabba Gabba!, WU LYF, OFWGKTA and 2manydjs and more.

The Last Day of Summer, Live in Munich

Attempt # 2 at encoding this.
The Last Day Of Summer, Live in Munich April 9th 2000

Download the file here:

Out of this World - Live in Munich Germany, April 9th 2000

So while we wait for the news to come from Robert. In between frantically refreshing twitter, thecure.com, and COF, I'm working on sharing a really nice Dream Tour DVD with you all.

This is a preview of it. I'll be sharing with the complete DVD you, possibly later today, but more than likely it will be up tomorrow. Once I find a good app to convert the DVD without losing much of the quality it will go up. This is very very VERY nice document of the dream tour, the picture is clear as day, the closeups are incredible, the audio is also very nice, and I'm not sure which program to convert it with.....

For now here's part of Adagio for Strings and Out of this World for now:

I Uploaded the file here:

The Cure live at the Rosklide Festival, June 30th 1995

Rosklide June 30th 1995

The Cure live at the Rosklide Festival in Rosklide Denmark. The band performed in front of 110,000 people sharing the stage with REM, Suede, and Elvis Costello, among others.
This was part of a festival tour in the summer of 95 bringing together the Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Roger O'Donnell, Perry Bamonte, Jason Cooper lineup together that would go on to play many epic shows throughout the next seven years, and beyond.

Fans were treated to hearing the upcoming Wild Mood Swings tracks live for the first times at the summer festivals of 95.

Rosklide's setlist was:
Want, Fascination Street, A Night Like This, Pictures of You, Lullaby, Just Like Heaven, Trust, Jupiter Crash, High, Dressing Up, The Walk, Lets go to Bed, A Strange Day, Push, Mint Car, Friday I'm in Love, Inbetween Days, From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea, Shiver and Shake, Disintegration, End, Close to me, Why Can't I Be You, Charlotte Sometimes, A Forest.

The video unfortunately does not include the second encore. It starts out shaky, but becomes steady a bit into it. Split into four parts, and about 200MB each in .mp4 files.
I am looking for a better video encoder to share some more DVDs with you, any recommendations would be appreciated.

There isn't much to say about this show. The setlist speaks for itself.
The 96-04 lineup at perfection by this point in time.
A setlist that we all dream of. The recording is excellent.
Enjoy.

The Cure Live in Holmdel NJ - June 16th 2000

The Dream Tour - June 16th 2000
PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel NJ

Two nights later and one long drive down from Mansfield MA brought us to Holmdel NJ on June 16th. After a somewhat average setlist at the show before this one (still great considering the songs used in this tour) yet still an average setlist. With the emotional "end of the cure" at Jones Beach looming in a few days, as was the Philly date in camden in que. Here we stood in the middle of nowhere, central NJ, with a half full ampitheatre, so needless to say....  I was not expecting much more for this show than what we saw in Mansfield, and I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.

As soon as the band went into A night Like This I had a better feeling about this show.
It ended up being one of the best shows I saw on the dream tour. We didn't get the Faith encore that night, but Same Deep Water in the encore made up for it, into one of the better 21st century versions of Disintegration, The Pornography encore, Siamese Twins in the mainset. It was just a really great setlist and they band played really well. Robert was really on point at this show.

Setlist:

out of this world, watching me fall, want, fascination street, a night like this, the last day of summer, pictures of you, maybe someday, like cockatoos, from the edge of the deep green sea, inbetween days, if only tonight we could sleep, siamese twins, one hundred years, 39, bloodflowers,
Encores:
plainsong, the same deep water as you, disintegration,
cold, a strange day, pornography,
m, play for today, just like heaven, a forest

Find the download links below, the sound wasn't the greatest at this show, but this is one of the better recordings of it floating around.

The Cure CONFIRMED for Vivid Live, Sydney Australia !!!

The Cure (un)oficially confirmed by Music Feeds

Still no word from Vivid, Sydney Opera House, or the band.
Not really a big surprise on this, but something more solid surfaced...

Late last night Music Feeds gave word that the Cure will in fact be performing.
"Now music feeds can confirm this is true!
Another Vivid Artist, Azari & III have announced that
The Cure will be playing the festival."

They go on to say:
"The exact details of how many shows they will play
and what they will entail will be confirmed tomorrow,
but we believe there is a surprise in store"

Surprises Surprises Surprises.
Alot remains unanswered, however I think we can expect something nice given all the hype surrounding this concert.
Something more than another festival/singles/pop/90 minute set seems to be in the works.

Meanwhile this is all Vivid gave us:

The Cure Live in Bordeaux France, July 3rd 1989

The Prayer Tour - 3rd of July 1989
Pantinoire de Meriadec - Bordeaux France
July 3rd brought the Prayer Tour into France for a seven nights in the country.
Some spectacular like the two nights at bercy, some not so great like reims.
Bordeaux gave us a drunk talkative Robert and another excellent show.
No Faith encore, but the appearance of It's not you and Accuracy was nice.
Show ended with an extended Untitled with extra lyrics, also includes a
fantastic, as always, Same Deep Water As you and another drunken wild
extended Why Can't Be you, introduced as "Soft white bread inside my head" !

This is a very good quality audience recording digitized from the master tapes.
